MP at Monthly Meeting
With Westminster in recess, to our delight Katrina Murray MP was able to accompany Cllrs. Stewart MacDonald and Aidan Marshall to our monthly meeting. She was very positive about our options for getting the remaining funding for demolition of the former club, and said she would raise the issue at Westminster as well as with Neil Bibby MSP. The advice we have received (and which has been confirmed by funders) is that once demolition is complete, funding will be much easier to attract for the rest of the community hub project.
Local Place Plan Now Approved and Registered by EDC
At our meeting we were excited to show printed copies of the Waterside Community Council Area Local Place Plan, which includes 27 references to the surrounding communities’ need and support for a community hub on the site of the former Waterside Miners Club.
The Local Place Plan (LPP) was approved by East Dunbartonshire Council’s Place, Neighbourhood and Corporate Assets Committee on 27 August 2026, so is now registered and will be taken into account in East Dunbartonshire Council’s next Local Development Plan.
You can access the LPP online at https://padlet.com/crthub/waterside-local-place-plan-ax7kxy57xvy5ftqe/wish/Ae2Rav0j8j4YZnz4
Enormous thanks are due to the Coalfields Regeneration Trust for making this LPP possible.
